Clients:
Sorry, as you may understand, our client name are undisclosed for this case study.
Location:
Downtown Toronto Canada
The TD Center consists of a complex including 6 office towers in the business
district.
Case:
Building an integration system that allow interconnection betweens all main
lighting, HVAC, and phone System.
MLI should be able to do the following:
-
Monitor status of all electrical panels in place over the 6 towers (about over
300 electrical panels (48 relays each))
-
Respond to phone call command in a reasonable time.
-
Issue commands to specific panels following implemented routing direction for
specific time.
-
Log and track activities
-
Reporting usage by tenants for later use purpose (billing)
After the successful implementation MLI Billing was develop as an Add-on
This case, when finish would be the biggest integration system in North America.
Problem to resolve:
The overall installed system was consisting of proprietary software and
hardware.
Each software were written in their own development language.
Software was spread out over multiple systems.
Hardware are installed over multiple systems and locations.
Case Solution:
A general meeting was taking place with all involved parties for each
department. Were present engineers, representative of each groups, project
manager and general project manager.
Subsequent meeting with individual parties were also done so we can share some
problem and concern on how to integrate their own system.
Installation of small site field and network was done. So we can do real
testing before implementation and also it was a requirement for development
purpose.
Our team use the latest technology in order to inter-connect with all the
systems in place.
We then create a user interface were we can monitor the traffic going over the
entire system. Also the interface allows setting for such and such command. In
the development process we took lead as for creating auto generating ini files
which at the end was a huge saving$$$ of 3 weeks of work.
MLI could then be installed on any dedicated computer running on the network.
We started with a response time of 45 seconds after a command was issued over
the phone to less then one second (-1 sec.).
Installation and testing were done in an incremental way. So that we were able
to monitor network traffic capacity and load balancing.
Installation:
The system is now fully installed since 2002.
After Installation:
MLI Billing add-in was installed
MLI Billing Full version was then installed on other lighting management system
like at the NOVA Scotia Tower in Toronto
MLI was also been licensed for The "US Army Marines Government"
